Implementation of the Project Based Learning Model in Improving Mathematics Learning Outcomes on Cube Net Material

Abstract

Learning mathematics in elementary school is closely related to understanding concepts.
However, it was found that students experienced problems with the cube net material,
one of the causes of which was the students' lack of interest in the learning carried out by
the teacher. Therefore, this research aims to improve students' mathematics learning
outcomes by implementing the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model. This research
includes Classroom Action Research (PTK) with the Hopkins model which consists of
planning, implementation, observation and reflection in each cycle which consists of two
cycles. The subjects in this research were 24 students in the VA class at SDN 27
Ampenan. The instruments applied in this research were tests and observation sheets for
learning implementation. The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistics with
graphs and percentages. Based on research that has been carried out, it was found that in
the initial conditions (pre-cycle) only 37.5% of students met the KKM, then in cycle 1
there was an increase with 62.5% of students meeting the KKM, then in cycle 2 the
number of students who reaching the KKM is 83.33% of students. Apart from that, an
increase also occurred in the average class score. In cycle 1, the average class score was
70.83 and this increased in cycle 2 to 81.25. This shows that the application of the Project
Based Learning (PjBL) model can improve mathematics learning outcomes in cube net
material for class VA SDN 27 Ampenan.
